BRINDEX seeks to promote the role played by British independent exploration and production (E&P) companies in maintaining a powerful and effective UK based oil and gas industry.

  • Founded at the beginning of North Sea development in 1974
  • Aggregate proven and probable UK reserves attributable to members at the end of 2021 amounted to 1,668 mmboe
  • Member companies hold interests in some 418 offshore and 43 onshore licences in the UK
  • Member companies include interests in 94 UK producing oil fields and 76 producing gas fields
  • BRINDEX members are active in 17 countries worldwide
  • Combined market capitalisation of quoted BRINDEX members stands at some £7.2 billion (US$8.1 billion). In addition the value of unquoted Members of BRINDEX is estimated to be in excess of an additional £5 billion (US$5.6 billion).
  • Worldwide proven plus probable reserves held by BRINDEX members at the end of 2021 amounted to 2.237 mmboe
